Q: How do I create a post?
A: Just click on register. Once you register, you will be able to submit a post. The register button is under “submit a post.”

Q: Do I have to register to comment?
A: At this point, no you do not

Q: Will my posts be edited?
A: Your posts should not be edited unless you are breaking the rules posted in the front of the site

Q: Can I post a link to my website or my contact information?
A: Yes

Q: Can I post information about my services or my firm?
A: You may not advertise your firm, product, or services in any way. This would be a violation of the site’s rules and/or terms of service and will be deleted. Giving examples of experiences within a post does not count as an advertisement. But if you are too boastful, then it will be deleted.

Q: Do you have editorial control of the posts?
A: Yes, but I do not plan to exercise it unless the rules are not followed.

Q: Is this a forum?
A; No. If enough people ask for a forum, I can easily add one. But right now, its posts and comments.

Q: Who owns my posts?
A: Posts you submit to this site are licensed under Creative Commons: Attribution Non-Commercial No Derivatives. This license allows others to download your works and share them with others as long as they mention you and link back to you, but they can’t change them in any way or use them commercially. Basically this means that you retain the rights to your work and others can’t take your posts and sell them. You can learn more about the details here: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/

Q: What if someone questions my marketing tactics or advice?
A: Please be aware that when you post to this site, the burden of proof is on you, the poster. If someone posts a question to you in the comments, you need to respond with factual examples or evidence. If you do not know the answer, just state as much. Nobody is expected to be all knowing.

Q: Can I take down or edit my own posts?
A; Yes, at any point in time.

Q: How much will you pay me each time I post?
A: Nothing

Q: How many times do I have to post before I am listed as one of the authors?
A: Right now it is 5 times, but that may change in the future or for special cases

Q: Will I share in the profits of your site?
A: Since there won’t be any, no. But look on the bright side. I’m paying for the site out of my own pocket. So it is free to you.

Q: Will you sell advertising on this site?
A: No

Q: Can I post something that I already published?
A: Yes, as long as you have the rights to do so. If a publisher contacts me about your posts, they will be taken down. But otherwise, I encourage you to do so.

Q: Can I post something that was already on my blog?
A: Yes, as long as it is relevant? And I encourage you to update or add to it.

Q: Do I have to agree with you?
A: Nope. Be yourself. We won’t grow if we don’t challenge each other. I don’t know all the answers. I’m hoping to discuss all the different views of any particular subject.

Q: How did you make such a great looking site?
A: Clearly, I’m awesome.

Q: What if someone posts a personal attack in the comments?
A: Personal or professional attacks will not be tolerated. They will be deleted. If you feel that someone has called into question your personal credentials, knowledge, skills, looks, or hygiene…please let me know.

Q: Is this meant to replace the SMPS Listserve?
A: Absolutely not. If you are not signed up for the SMPS listserve, do so now. The listserve is an email forum where you can ask questions to the membership of SMPS. You can learn more about SMPS at www.SMPS.org . With that said, if a topic peeks your interest on the listserve, feel free to explore it further here.

Q: I have no experience in the architectural, engineering, or construction industries. Can I still submit a post?
A: No. This site is for marketers to help other marketers within this community. At this point, we are not accepting submissions from those outside the industry.

Q: Why do I have to respond to comments?
A; Its important that every question or comment gets answered. At the very least to say, “thank you for reading my post.” This site is about helping others, so part of that is answering questions, getting into a discussion, and being grateful to the readers.

Q: Why do I have to fill out a description and keywords?
A: This is necessary in order for search engines to find the content you post. Even though the readers do not see the descriptions or keywords, google and other search engines will and will use this information to determine who to show it to. And that goes back to this idea of helping others out. In addition, more people will see your posts.

Q: Why is your site slow today? Why am I having this technical problem?
A; Damned if I know. If you experience a problem, just email me.

Q: Can my account be deleted? Can I be banned from posting? Is this site run by dictatorship?
A: Yes

Q: Can I make suggestions about how to make this site better?
A: Yes, please do
