Now You Can Dress Like A Million Bucks and Barely Pay Anything
Please note this is written for us guys. Ladies, if you have suggestions on how other ladies can dress like a million bucks let’s hear them.
I always say that I am “not a slave to fashion but rather a prisoner of my own bad taste.” And while I’m not always “dressed to the nines,” when I need to dress up, I can dress like a million bucks. But here is the thing. When it comes to clothes:
- I am cheap
- Nothing really fits me right
So I’ve spent some time finding clothes that work for me through years of painful trial and error. What I have learned might help you or someone you know.
Getting a dress shirt that fits
Man, it is tough to get a shirt that fits. I’ve found shirts that sort of fit me for about $30. That is until I wash them. My solution, custom shirts. You can buy custom shirts from a local shop for $200-$300 a piece. Or if that sounds completely insane, you can get custom shirts here for about $69.
It will take about a month to be delivered, but it’s not like you don’t already own a dress shirt. Make sure you have them send you a shirt to “test” first. They will ask you to measure yourself, using illustrated directions, and send the measurements to them by filling out their online form.
What you get is a shirt custom made to fit you perfectly for about the price you would buy a shirt for off the rack.
Suits that suit your budget
I officially buy my suits from Perry Ellis Outlet. Why? Because they have a more modern cut and are dirt cheap. Your local Perry Ellis Outlet will sell you a suit for $99 to $130 on most days. It’s not uncommon to find suits at popular outlet stores for that price-point. Try to hit Perry Ellis up on their regular “all suits $99 sale.” Then ask for 10% off. Nine times out of ten they will give it to you.
Every suit is different, so make sure you try it on and look in the mirror before you buy it. And do not assume that because it’s “your size,” it will fit.
If you can’t find anything that fits right, you can get a custom suit for around $300.
Ties are plentiful
Here is the thing about ties, if there is something this world has too much of it is silk dress ties. So based on the law of supply and demand, it seems a bit foolish to pay any non-trivial amount of money for a tie. You can get five brand new silk ties on eBay for less than $20.
Cool cufflinks for cheap
I’m a French cuff kind of guy. Therefore, I need cufflinks. One of the things I get the most complements on is my choice of cufflinks. You can get any cufflinks you want off Ebay for less than $10 a set. My “gold” elephant cufflinks set me back about $5.
There you have it guys, a great fitting suit for under $200. Now you can dress like a million bucks
